WELCOME TO MIGRANT FARMWORKERS PROJECT

Migrant Farmworkers Project is a hospitality and pastoral care ministry that accompanies and empowers migrant farmworkers during their work season in the Niagara region. We build bridges and bring together seasonal migrant farmworkers, volunteers, and community partners, as we together make community and provide a safe space for a mutual relationship. We provide seasonal migrant workers access to important services using an integrated approach. We actively support the spiritual, pastoral, emotional, mental, medical, and physical needs of Spanish-speaking migrant farmworkers in the Niagara region as we welcome, connect, and engage with them, showing our gratitude for their commitment and dedication to the agriculture of Canada.

Migrant Farmworkers Project

Migrant Farmworkers Project facilitates the following services:

St. Alban’s Hub Beamsville:

Café Los Amigos & wifi
Tiendita (thrift shop)
Quest Healthcare Clinic
Bikes for Farmworkers – Bike Shop – sales & repairs
Pastoral care – religious services & sacraments

Plaza Comunitaria

In partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Toronto the Project facilitates the on-line educational program for migrant farm workers from Mexico to complete their elementary, secondary or high school education at the Lincoln Pelham Public Library – Fleming Branch in Beamsville.

OUR SERVICES

Complimentary Meals

We provide community meals for the migrant farmworkers as an opportunity to share stories and for community building.

Donate a Bike

Niagara farmworkers need bikes to shop, get groceries and access services.

Festivals

Life shouldn’t be all work and no play. That’s why we have a festival each year.

Internet Cafe & WiFi

Many farmworkers have smartphones, which they use to stay in contact with their spouses and children. We provide free WIFI services to enable them to use Skype to call home.

Medical Help Triage Clinic

Farmworkers asked for medical assistance after work hours in order to avoid an income loss and needed assistance of a Spanish language interpreter.

Spanish Church Service

Father Antonio celebrates Sunday services at the different parishes that host the Project and in the seasonal migrant farmworker residences in the farmlands.

Summer Clothing

Please donate your gently used or new clothing for migrant farmworkers.

All adult sizes welcome for male and female workers.

Welcome Bags

We provide about 350 welcome bags to new arrivals each year.

Welcome bags are gender specific and contain an assortment of items – gloves, pain medication, sunscreen, soaps, shavers, and personal hygiene products.
